Unlike many guides who have a 'spiel' to deliver regardless, Carlo sensed when to 'move on' and supplied more info when we wanted more. He knows Rome very, very well, and was enthusiastic and humorous. I have used Tours By Locals for years and while most guides are great, he was the best so far. It was like having a good friend show you 'their city'. Highly, highly recommend!

All 3 hours of our excursion in Vatican city we were astonished by his awareness of the historical details and how easily and naturally he talked about it. United States10/10!! Would definitely recommend!! I booked a Vatican/Sistine Chapel tour with Carlo. It was well worth every penny! I was a solo traveler and I met Carlo for an early entrance tour and it was SO worth it. There were No crowds. Carlo was amazing! Very informative and friendly, really bringing the art to life with his stories about the times, the artists and the political climates. He was very patient with all my questions and even went over his time to show me add'l things in St Peter's Cathedral.

He was a extremely knowledgeable about all things Rome, and most importantly was able to really help our extended family learn about this great city! We took two different tours, Vatican & Sistine Chapel and Colosseum & Roman Forum, and both were amazing! Carlo continuously offered to go the extra mile and help in other areas (restaurant choices, best gelato, taxi services, etc.), and we would highly recommend him and Tours By Locals!

United StatesCarlo was an incredible tour guide. We have been on many tours on our several trips to Rome and found Carlo to be knowledgeable and personable. He even had our 13 year old son paying attention and interested. While during the tour Carlo provided information about Trastevere it was the special parts of the tour like showing us underground ruins in a church and the not so touristy section that displayed his passion for his city. We returned on our own a few days later and knew where to get the best gelato!

Carlo was knowledgeable and informative. Having someone explain things to you on an individual basis was so rewarding. He took his time and we never felt hurried. He even made a "sprint" to the metro to get a couple of waters. When I return to Rome with my husband, I plan to reach out to him again!!! Super experience. Thank you so much Carlo!
